I am a Social Work student and have just completed a 70 day placement at ICANN. When I started at ICANN, I was very nervous, however, the whole team are really supportive and helpful which put me at ease.
I felt welcomed and like I could ask any questions when needed. Prior to starting my placement, I had little knowledge around benefits so have thoroughly enjoyed learning about these to use when working with others. ICANN also helped me to expand my knowledge around advocacy which is a vital part of the work that ICANN do and will be in my role as a Social Worker.
My role involved working with and helping clients with PIP and WCA form fills, assessments, and appeals. I also completed some admin tasks, mentoring and attended networking events. These where a mix of over the phone and face to face which allowed me to obtain further skills around communication.
I have developed a range of skills and knowledge which I can now take with me and use in my future career. I have felt very supported and valued by the team. Thank you to everyone at ICANN!
