Starting at ICANN was a very nerve filled experience for me but my mentor Zoe immediately put me at ease, giving me all the information I needed in a way that I could understand and use it effectively going forward.
The whole team at ICANN is extremely welcoming. They made me feel at home and at ease during my whole placement. If I needed to ask any questions, there was always someone there willing to help me, without any problems. I have obtained a lot of valuable life skills within this placement – teamwork, time management, active listening etc.
Everyday had a new challenge or task for me, which really kept me interested and actively learning throughout my whole time at ICANN. Learning about the advocacy system and it’s processes has also helped me to understand a lot more about benefits and work capability payments, particularly with how to go through the process itself.
I have also acquired a lot of transferrable skills that I can now go ahead and use in my future career, which I really appreciate.
The environment within ICANN has just generally made me feel extremely well supported and valued. Thank you to everyone at ICANN that made my experience feel like a special one.
